Yooka-Laylee Mixed Reactions

Yooka-Laylee reviews are out and they’re all over the place. Plenty of reviewers cite the game as a worthy Banjo-Kazooie successor, while others list off technical issues and say the game tries too hard to be nostalgic.

It seems like each player will have to go in blind when purchasing Yooka-Laylee.

Mass Effect Controvery and Update

The kick-off to the new trilogy in the Mass Effect series hasn’t been without its criticisms. Last week all the talk was over the games terrible animations; both facial and body. A new patch is out fixing those problems.

Now the new controversy is about how Bioware portrayed a transgender character. Hainly Abrams is the character  in question. Supposedly the character details their life story even though they remain a stranger for the entirety of the game. Other than feeling forced, players say this isn’t a good representation for the trans community. Bioware has offered up an apology for the situation.

Xbox One Specs Released

Microsofts Scorpio console has been revealed to have 6 teraflops in its GPU. This easily makes it the most powerful system on the market. The only questions left are the release date and price.

Square Enix Focusing on Switch

In a recent interview with the CEO of Square Enix; Yosuke Matsuda has declared his companies dedication to the Switch. He says he hopes its a success and to bring many powerful new games and maybe even ports to the system.

So there you have it; the interesting gaming new this week! Any other interesting news I miss? Drop me a message down below and I’ll try to reply! As always, thanks for reading.

  1. I’m really hoping for some solid releases from Square Enix on the Switch. While Nintendo needs the support (and I do mean retail support and not just digital only…), there are plenty of series to remaster and localize to generate some revenue to come out with new IPs. At this early point in the Switches’ life, what it needs is retail games, in stores, on shelves. Square Enix can be a huge asset in bumping numbers.

Would love to see some Mana series followups!

  2. With Yooka-Laylee (which I kickstarted btw), I think readers should take the mixed reviews as “it’s like Banjo-Kazooie, including the annoying archaic features”. If you’re happy with that then you may enjoy it. I’m looking forward to giving it a go in a few days.
