More Indie Games Announced For Switch
Helping the Nintendo Switch launch were tons of indies games available for download, and it looks like they aren’t stopping. PC hit Owlboy will be coming onto the system, alongside anticipated RPG YIIK, RiME, and more. These digital adventures should keep players busy until the next big Switch game.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tops April 2017 Charts
Despite not being a truly new entry in the long running racing series; Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the best selling game in April. What’s fascinating is Deluxe was only available for two days of the month because of it’s April 28th release date. Right underneath Deluxe were Persona 5 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, meaning Nintendo has two of the three highest selling games in April.
South Park The Fractured But Whole
It’s a little late but the anticipated follow up to South Park The Stick of Truth has finally gotten a release date. On October 17th fans can load up The Fractured But Whole and presumably start laughing aloud.
If you pre-order the game digitally you can receive a digital copy of The Stick of Truth to play immediately on Steam or the PlayStation Store.
E3 Tickets Sold Out
The popular Electronic Entertainment Expo has officially sold out of tickets available to the public. This is the first year the convention has offered tickets to consumers and it took a lot longer than anticipated for them to sell out.
No Destiny 2 For Switch
Unlike those indie games, Destiny 2 will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch. A Bungie employee has stated that there are “no plans right now for Switch”. He went on to state that he believes it would be “unrealistic” for an online only game like Destiny 2 to be on the Nintendo Switch.

343 Says Goodbye to Halo Director
Dan Ayoub from 343 Industries has officially left the company. Ayoub has been working on Halo games since 2009’s Halo Reach and has stated that he would be leaving 343 “to pursue a passion for education through technology”. The company has already said it’s sweet farewells to Dan Ayoub. How this effects Halo Wars 2 DLC, or the future of Halo, nobody knows.
Rime on Nintendo Switch Gets Pre-Release Price Cut
The upcoming action-adventure game Rime on the Nintendo Switch was originally going to cost more than the standard $29.99, the same as the other console releases would be. The company stated that this bigger price was due to the extra development needed for the Switch.
Thanks to the outcry of anger from gamers, Tequila Works’ will release Rime on Switch for $29.99.
Overwatch 1 Year Anniversary Event
The internet is spinning with rumors of a new Overwatch event themed after the games one year anniversary. A Game of the Year edition is also thought to be happening soon. Overwatch being Blizzard’s new IP, these events will surely go noticed.
Hitman Dev Being Sold by Square Enix
Square Enix has officially put up IO Interactive for sale after a $42 million loss this past fiscal year. IO had intentions of releasing new seasons for its current Hitman game, but now that seems all but possible.

Hey guys sorry for the wacky schedule this week, I just got over the flu and was behind on posts to upload. I know this Interesting Game News Roundup is a day late and I know I missed last week but things will be back to normal tomorrow!
2DS XL Announced/2018 3DS Support
Nintendo has decided to make another model in the 3DS family of systems, this time focusing on the 2DS. The 2DS XL has a more standard clam shell design that Nintendo fans are used to by now. Consumers can expect this new model on Jun 28th 2017.
That isn’t the only news surrounding the 3DS though; Nintendo has confirmed support for it’s handheld into 2018. However, with the way 2017 is looking for 3DS there should be no reason to expect more than a handful of games unless they are announced at this years E3.
Megaman Legacy Collection 2 Leaked
A posting online has leaked the possible existence of a second Megaman Legacy Collection. This compilation of games would hold Megaman 7,8,9 and 10; thus completing the classic series.
Nintendo to Not Have E3 Press Conference
Once again Nintendo has opted out of having a big press conference at this years E3. It’s likely they will go the route of a much smaller Nintendo Direct like the last handful of years.
Shadow of War Details
The sequel to acclaimed Lord of the Rings game Shadow of Mordor has been announced as Shadow of War. The beloved Nemesis system will be expanded upon and there will be a heavier focus on role-playing aspects within gameplay. More details are expected at E3.
Persona 5 Streaming Rules Lightened
At first Atlus release some seemingly harsh rules for streaming Persona 5 past an in-game game of July. Atlus went on to say that streamers could face serious consequences if they didn’t listen. Luckily Atlus listening to the outcry and pushed back the in-game date to one in November, when the game begins it’s final act. Atlus also apologized for its comments for their threatening nature, stating that they didn’t intend to threaten anyone.

Nintendo Discontinues NES Classic
In a truly baffling move, Nintendo has decided to no longer produce one of it’s most demanded items of recent years: the NES Classic. Fans will now have to scour the internet and pay outrageous prices for the nifty little device. This was announced on the April 12th Nintendo Direct.
Bandai Namco Teases New Game
Bandai Namco, the publisher most known for Dark Souls, has teased a new project. The main line used for advertisement has been “Prepare to Dine”, oddly sounding like “Prepare to Die”, a term easily applicable to Dark Souls. The official reveal is schedules for April 20th with a teaser trailer below.
It seems fan reception is quite different than critical reception of Playtonics Yooka-Laylee. Fans online have confirmed camera and control issues, also some cosmetic annoyances; but overall they swear it delivers on a proper Banjo-Kazooie successor.
More Amiibos Announced!
Nintendo has announced even more amiibos. Three new versions of Link are availble, the Majora’s Mask version is the most interesting as it will most likely unlock the Fierce Deity armor set in Breath of the Wild.
More exciting are the very last amiibo to enter the Smash Brothers line. Two versions of Bayonetta, Corrin, and Cloud are coming July 21st of this year.
Overwatch Uprising Season
Blizzard has launched a new seasonal event for it’s team based FPS. Uprising takes the heroes of Overwatch back into the days before their downfall. New Loot Boxes have been released and even better; some insight into characters pasts. Players can experience Tracers first mission. This will surely feed the demand for more information on the lore of Overwatch.

Yooka-Laylee Mixed Reactions
Yooka-Laylee reviews are out and they’re all over the place. Plenty of reviewers cite the game as a worthy Banjo-Kazooie successor, while others list off technical issues and say the game tries too hard to be nostalgic.
It seems like each player will have to go in blind when purchasing Yooka-Laylee.
Mass Effect Controvery and Update
The kick-off to the new trilogy in the Mass Effect series hasn’t been without its criticisms. Last week all the talk was over the games terrible animations; both facial and body. A new patch is out fixing those problems.
Now the new controversy is about how Bioware portrayed a transgender character. Hainly Abrams is the character in question. Supposedly the character details their life story even though they remain a stranger for the entirety of the game. Other than feeling forced, players say this isn’t a good representation for the trans community. Bioware has offered up an apology for the situation.
Xbox One Specs Released
Microsofts Scorpio console has been revealed to have 6 teraflops in its GPU. This easily makes it the most powerful system on the market. The only questions left are the release date and price.
Square Enix Focusing on Switch
In a recent interview with the CEO of Square Enix; Yosuke Matsuda has declared his companies dedication to the Switch. He says he hopes its a success and to bring many powerful new games and maybe even ports to the system.

Rocket League Coming to Nintendo Switch?
It seems like the beloved online soccer game Rocket League may have a chance to take over yet another console.
Some quotes by Psyonix VP Jeremy Dunham reveal that the company is looking to see if their game could run well on the Nintendo Switch. He also said that they’re scanning for “true community demand”.

Breath of the Wild 1.1.1 Patch Fixes Frame Rate
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most critically acclaimed game to come from Nintendo in years, but it wasn’t free from issues. Most reviewers noted the games frequent frame rate drops during specifically demanding moments. Areas with tall grass, fire spreading or battles with multiple monsters would make the game slug.
But in a rare move from Nintendo, they’ve released an after release patch to help fix those issues. Even better is the patch isn’t just for the Nintendo Switch version. The Wii U version is also improved; this confirms Nintendo’s previous dedication to keeping both versions the same.
Destiny 2 Reveal Trailer
Bungie has revealed the sequel to it’s MMO/FPS, Destiny 2. Bungie stated the game will have a fall 2017 release date. No other specific information has been given out about the game.
Harmonix Lays Off Seventeen Employees
Developers of the acclaimed series Dance Central and Rock Band, Harmonix have laid off seventeen employees. Harmonix has had numerous layoffs in the past handful of years, this being the second most severe after thirty-seven were laid off in 2014.
Harmonix has stated:
“We are working to ensure that they are taken care of as we make this change.”
